"Dedicated to the advancement of responsible care and use of laboratory animals through education, training and information exchange for the benefit of human and animal health"
Hurricane Harvey: Reports, to-date, have been about the positive impact of proper emergency preparedness and research facilities being in good shape.
Personal homes have not fared as well. Information will be posted here as we find ways to support our lab animal community.
Local shelters outside the impacted areas are receiving displaced animals and are looking for blankets, food and water bowls, kennels and people willing to take care of the animals until they can be returned home.
Subject: Call to Action-Canine Studies at the VA
I’m writing on behalf of the AALAS Government Relations Committee. We have a call to action on a canine research issue.
Congress is considering legislation that targets important canine studies at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). AALAS President, Paige Ebert has submitted a letter (Link: http://tinyurl.com/Ebert-ltr) to ranking members on the Senate Appropriations Committee to voice our concern for this amendment.
